“The world behind glass, the route checked.
The sky is still black, so still and perfect.
And I'll stay awake - I'll take care of you.

The world behind glass, the route checked.
The sky is still black, so still and perfect.
We're right in the middle - and I'll take us there. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

The lyrics to World Behind Glass are written in German. The text of the song comes from the collaboration of Justin Balk , Mark Cwiertnia ( Mark Forster ) and Max Mutzke. Together with Johannes Arzberger, Otto Block, Heiko Fischer , Simon Gattringer, Andreas Herbig and Achim Seifert they also worked as composers. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The song is based on two verses, a bridge and a chorus . The song begins with the first verse followed by the chorus. This is repeated with the second stanza. The second chorus is followed by a bridge and at the end a repeating chorus.

In an interview with Radio-VHR, Mutzke himself described the piece in the following words: “The song is based on my thoughts and feelings when I spontaneously went on a road trip to the sea with my girlfriend years ago. It's about the intimacy between two people, which simply inevitably arises in a confined space when you set off to achieve a goal further away. I describe the togetherness and the perception of the outside world when looking through the windows of the car. The view of what rushes past you on this trip. "

The piece is musically "implemented in a relaxed manner" and equipped with "summery organs" which, as well as mentions about anachronisms such as music cassettes, ensured an all-round coherent "old fashion feeling".
