Only in my head is a song by German pop singer Andreas Bourani . The piece was released in 2011 and was the first single from his debut album Staub & Fantasie .

Creation and artwork

The song was written by Andreas Bourani, Julius Hartog and Tom Olbrich. The instruments were played by Arne Augustin (piano), Julius Hartog (guitar), Ralph Rieker (bass) and Jürgen Stiehle (drums). The single was produced by Andreas Herbig and Peter Seifert . The latter also arranged and mixed the song. The single was released and distributed under the music labels Universal Music Group and Vertigo Berlin .

On the black and white held cover the maxi-single - alongside artist name and song title - Bourani be seen sitting on a wall. His leg is decorated with colorful plants and birds.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of Nur in mein Kopf took place on May 20, 2011 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The physical maxi single was released as a 2-track single and contains, in addition to the single version, an acoustic version of Nur in mein Kopf as the B-side .

In order to promote the song, there was a live appearance on prime time during the Echo Awards 2012 . The Goethe-Institut uses the song or video as teaching material "Level: Lower Intermediate Level (B1)" .

The music video for Just In My Head premiered on May 6, 2011 on the Vertigo Records website. On the one hand, Bourani can be seen sitting at a piano and playing his song. On the other hand, a little girl can be seen painting the world around her. At the end of the video, Bourani goes into the air with a hot air balloon . The total length of the video is 3:54 minutes. Directed by Joern Heitmann . To date, the video has over 10.7 million views on YouTube (as of March 2020).

Only in my head reached position 16 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 35 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 13 and stayed in the charts for a total of three weeks. In Switzerland, the single reached position 15 in the charts in two weeks. In 2011 the single placed 58th in the annual single charts in Germany. For Bourani it was the first chart success as an author and performer in all DA-CH countries.
