Reviews
Stephan Müller reviewed the album for plattentests.de and called the album "quite philosophical for pop music". Müller classifies the 13 songs “between pop-esque soft pop and rock-ambitious basic work”.
Samira Kügler, who discussed the album for the radio station 1 Live's record check show , concludes: “ Dust and fantasy are a bit kitschy . Still, it's a solid German pop album to daydream. "
Andreas Dittmann from laut.de assessed the album much more critically and drew negative parallels to the music of Unheilig . Above all, he accused the album of being too focused on commercial success and being produced too smoothly.
“This forced mass compatibility is Bourani's greatest curse. The songs sound interchangeable, smoothly ironed to mainstream. Bourani even worked with bosses for one song ('You and Me and You') . He would have better oriented himself to its handmade songwriter pop. Songs like the piano piece “Mit Der Zeit”, the mid-tempo groover Frieden or the gentle final song You let yourself go prove that there is another way . Bourani's producers limit themselves to a little synth and electronic monotony and rather leave room for his voice to develop. So in the end, dust and fantasy are just a passable pop album. "
