Christoph Hagel

Christoph Hagel (* 1959 in Biberach an der Riss ) is a German conductor and opera director .

Life

Hagel grew up in Baden-Württemberg and received his musical training in Vienna , Munich and Berlin as well as in New York City with Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celibidache . In addition to engagements in Berlin, Hagel worked for several years in Latin America, where he led various orchestras in Argentina , Colombia , Mexico and Peru . Between 1999 and 2001, Hagel held the position of chief conductor of the symphony orchestra and director of the Ibagué Conservatory in Colombia.

Christoph Hagel has been working regularly with groups and genres of urban dance since 2010. The combination of classical and breakdance resulted in productions that were also internationally successful, such as the “Flying Bach” project with the Flying Steps , which 300,000 viewers in 27 countries saw and for which Christoph Hagel received the 2010 Echo Klassik Special Prize.

Christoph Hagel lives in Berlin.
