Flying steps
The Flying Steps are a dance group from Berlin that specializes in breakdancing , popping and locking .
history
The group was founded in 1993 by Kadir Memiş and Vartan Bassil in Berlin. The Flying Steps won several breakdance world championships such as the Battle of the Year and the Red Bull Beat Battle . After becoming known for the music videos for Supersonic and Get Freaky by Music Instructor , the group decided to publish under their own name. After several singles, the album B-Town was released in 2001 , followed by the album Breakdance Battle in early 2005 . The single Operator was released in 2007 and Let It Rain in 2009 .
2000 Benny Kimoto set the Guinness world record in headspin . In 2005 and 2007 the Flying Steps won the Red Bull Beat Battle .
The line-up has changed again and again over the years, new members have been added and various dancers from all over the world have worked together, so that an international network of 30 world-class urban dance athletes has formed - the Flying Steps Company .
In 2010 the Flying Steps presented the dance performance Red Bull Flying Bach with breakdance and contemporary dance to the music of the well -tempered piano by Johann Sebastian Bach under the artistic direction of Christoph Hagel . With the production, the group has been on tour at home and abroad without interruption since 2011, it now has more than 500,000 viewers worldwide and has received the Echo Special Classical Prize .
In March 2014 the Flying Steps also celebrated the premiere of their production Red Bull Flying Illusion in Berlin's Tempodrom. The show then went on tour in Germany and will be performed in Zurich and Vienna in 2015.
The focus of their work in the Flying Steps Academy, which they opened in 2007, is the promotion of young talent and the training of dancers . Just in time for their 20th anniversary, the Flying Steps launched their new academy in the Aqua Carre in spring 2013 .
Former Flying Steps member Crazy Be founded the Shok Muzik label in 2004 . Another former, Big Derill Mack , is a well-known rapper and was under contract with the Berlin underground label Royal Bunker .
