Single So It Goes Every Night by Freddy, 1956

This is how it goes every night was the second German contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 on May 24, 1956 in Lugano . The preliminary decision had taken place on May 1, 1956 in Cologne .

background

The song was composed in the boogie-woogie style by Lotar Olias , the text was written by Peter Moesser , the title was sung by Freddy Quinn . The conductor was Fernando Paggi .

The song is about the many relationships of a woman who has a new boyfriend every day. Even though the singer “gave her flowers and drove her to the office, took her mother to the zoo every Sunday and practiced boogie and cha-cha-cha .” At the end of the song, however, it turns out that the singer “goes out with someone else every day”.

The song was sung in the competition in Lugano in 11th position. Since only the winning title was publicly announced in 1956, nothing further is officially known about the placement.

The song was released in 1956 as a single by Polydor and again on a compilation in 2001 under the title Alle Sieger des Deutschen Grand Prix 1956-2000 by Jupiter and 2005 on the sampler Germany 12 Points - Eurovision Song Contest 2005 by Ariola , in the same year with Polydor on Deutsche Schlager 1956–1957 and 2010 for Roba Digital on the album Schlager Diamanten .

In 1956, the single stayed in the German charts for a total of 10 weeks.

Bernd Begemann and Dirk Darmstaedter

Bernd Begemann and Dirk Darmstaedter covered the song for their participation in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2010 for Lower Saxony , where they came last with four points. During the award of points in all 16 federal states, the two only received these four points from their own federal state. The low score of four points resulted in two negative records for Begemann and Darmstaedter. On the one hand, they had the negative record for the fewest points awarded by a state to itself, and on the other hand, they still have the negative record for the lowest number of points ever achieved in the competition.

For promotional purposes, each artist shoots an election commercial for participation in the BuViSoCo. In this video, Begemann and Darmstaedter introduce a travel group to various locations in Lower Saxony with a “Magical Lower Saxony Tour”. Begemann wears a suit and a children's microphone, Darmstaedter wears a horse costume, which is supposed to represent the heraldic animal of Lower Saxony . You visit u. a. a video store in Delmenhorst , Dieter Bohlen's house in Tötensen , the Scorpions' first rehearsal room in Sarstedt and a supermarket in which Lena Meyer-Landrut is said to be shopping.
