The recorder of death , whose real name is Matthias Schrei (born February 24, 1981 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ), is a German songwriter from Berlin .

history

He spent his youth on his parents' farm in Erkner . The multi-instrumentalist plays the recorder , piano , clarinet , guitar , flute , trumpet , bass , drums , organ and tuba . As a church and funeral organist as well as a choir director, Schrei could not really express himself artistically. So in autumn 2007 he started to write his own songs under the name “Recorder of Death”.

In the Christmas season 2009 he released the song Happy Birthday Jesus , which was a surprise success. Radio rotations on numerous major stations in December 2009 and long waiting lists for the single on Amazon were the result.

In April 2010 the debut album was released when glances could flute .

On October 1, 2010, Recorder of Death took part in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2010 for the federal state of Saxony together with Diane Weigmann from the Lemonbabies and took eleventh place with the song Everything will be expensive .

Matthias Schrei was discovered by the successful Valicon producer team ( Silbermond , Eisblume and many others).
