DoKomi
The DoKomi (Japanese. ド コ ミdokomi , an abbreviation for German Comic Market, Japanese. ド イ ツ コ ミ ッ ク マ ー ケ ッ トdoitsu komikku māketto ) is the largest anime and manga convention in Germany, whose subject area covers anime , manga , games, cosplay , fashion and many other topics Japan-related issues draws. It has been taking place every year since 2009 for two days in Düsseldorf , Germany.
history
The DoKomi took place for the first time in 2009, at that time in the Free Christian Gymnasium , right next to the Castello Düsseldorf . The CCD has been the location of the two-day event since 2011 . With over 10,000 visitors in 2013, it is one of the larger anime conventions in Germany. In 2013 there was an interactive cosplay day. The cosplay competition was also the preliminary decision for the German Cosplay Championship (DCM) at the Frankfurt Book Fair . In 2016, DoKomi reported 31,000 visitors, making it the largest convention in Germany at the time. Due to renovation work on the CCD, DoKomi 2017 had to be completely relocated to the exhibition halls. In 2020, parts of the DoKomi are to take place again in the CCD.
program
The DoKomi program includes the host club “Sweet Spice” and the maid café “Lucky Chocolate” (both cosplay restaurants ), a cosplay ball, a J-rave, as well as a bring & buy and workshops (drawing, cosplay , Dance, culture of Japan , dubbing, etc.). Since 2012, DoKomi has been inviting illustrators, singers, dancers, cosplayers and other well-known people as guests of honor.
Numerous exhibitor stands from various Japanese areas can also be found at DoKomi, including dealers for merchandise, comics, books and clothing as well as game publishers, manga and anime publishers. Young artists present their works and skills on the drawing avenue. It is important that everything is made by fans for fans. Over 400 exhibitors and fan stands gathered at DoKomi 2016, while in 2019 there were over 850 exhibitors and fan stands.
Numerous singers, artists and show acts perform on the main stage and cosplay show stage and various competitions ( German Cosplay Championship , EuroCosplay, Dance Off Contest, etc.) take place.
