Ryūzō Saki

Ryūzō Saki ( Japanese 佐 木 隆 三 , Saki Ryūzō ; born April 14, 1937 in Kankyō-Hokudō, Chōsen , Japanese Empire (today: Hamgyŏng-pukto , North Korea ); † October 31, 2015 in Kitakyūshū ) was a Japanese writer.

After Saki graduated from Fukuoka Prefecture's Yahata Chūō High School in 1956 , he first worked at Yahata Seitetsu (now: Nippon Steel ). He has written reviews and biographies, short stories and novels, some of which have been made into films. In 1975 he received the Naoki Prize for Fukushū suru wa ware ni ari (filmed in 1979 by Shōhei Imamura ) , and in 1991 he was awarded the Itō-Sei Literature Prize for Shinbunchō .
