Shin-Nippon Seitetsu KK ( Japanese 新 日本 製 鐵 株式會社 , Shin-Nippon Seitetsu Kabushiki-gaisha , English Nippon Steel Corporation , short: 新日鐵 , Shinnittetsu ), listed in the Nikkei 225 , is a company founded in 1970 in the field steel production in Japan . The company is one of the 10 largest steel production companies in the world and produced around 33.4 million tons of crude steel in 2011. On October 1, 2012, Shin-Nippon Seitetsu merged with Sumitomo Kinzoku Kōgyō to form Shinnittetsu Sumikin (Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal).

Nippon Steel was created in 1970 through the merger of the two steel companies Yawata Seitetsu KK ( 八 幡 製 鐵 株式會社 , English Yawata Iron & Steel ) and Fuji Seitetsu KK ( 富士 製 鐵 株式會社 , English Fuji Iron & Steel ).
