Hikari ( Japanese 光 市 , -shi , literally " City of Light") is a city in Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan .

Hikari is located south of Iwakuni on the Seto Inland Sea .
history
The city of Hikari was established on April 1, 1943, July 1, 1965, and again on October 4, 2004. With Yamaguchi and Ichinoseki, it is one of three cities in Japan that have been granted city rights three times.
