history

Ichinoseki was the seat of the Tamura until 1868 , who resided there with an income in a “permanent house” of 30,000 koku .

On April 1, 1948, the first independent city with the name Ichinoseki was founded by the merger of two communities and two villages , including the city of Ichinoseki ( 一 関 町 Ichinoseki- machi ) from West Iwai County ( Nishiiwai-gun ).

On January 1, 1955, the villages of Ganmi ( 厳 美 村 , -mura ), Hagishō ( 萩 荘 村 , -mura ), Maikawa ( 舞 川村 , -mura ) and Yasaka ( 弥 栄 村 , -mura ) were incorporated into Ichinoseki. On September 1, 1956, parts of the community Hiraizumi were incorporated, on May 1, 1964 further parts of this community were added.

On September 20, 2005 the parishes of Daitō ( 大 東 町 , -chō ), Higashiyama ( 東山 町 , -chō ) and Senmaya ( 千 厩 町 , -chō ) and the villages of Kawasaki ( 川 崎 村 , -mura ) and Murone ( 室 根 村 , -mura ), all from Higashiiwai County and the city of Hanaizumi ( 花 泉 町 , -chō ) of Nishiiwai County, part of the new city of Ichinoseki. This roughly doubled the population of the previous town of Ichinoseki, and the area of the urban area almost tripled.
