Takizawa ( Japanese 滝 沢 市 , - shi ) is an independent city in Iwate Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan . On October 1, 2018, 55,507 inhabitants lived in an area of 182.46 km². The 249 km long Kitakami flows through Takizawa .
From 1889 to 2014, it was as Takizawa ( 滝沢村 , Takizawa- mura ) village in the district of Iwate (before 1897 Minami-Iwate , "South Iwate").
