Azusa Iwashimizu ( Jap. 岩清水梓 , Iwashimizu Azusa * 14. October 1986 in Takizawa , district Iwate , Iwate Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player .

Club career

Iwashimizu has played for NTV Beleza since 2001 , where she is a regular player.

National team

Iwashimizu already played in the U-18, U-19 and U-20 selections of the Japanese women's national team, she played for Japan at the Universiade 2005 in Izmir . Iwashimizu played their first international match for Japan on February 16, 2006 against Russia . She scored her first goal on May 7, 2006 against the USA . She played all three games for Japan at the 5th Women's World Cup in 2007 as well as all six games at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and all six games at the 6th Women's World Cup in 2011 in Germany. In the preparatory game against Sweden, she scored the opening goal, which Sweden was able to equalize in the second half.

Iwashimizu was also part of the Japanese squad for the London Olympics . She was in the starting line-up in all six games and played the full distance, u. a. in the final, lost 1: 2 against the USA , and won the silver medal with their team.

On May 8, 2014, she made her 100th international match against New Zealand.

In May 2014, she and her team won the Asian Cup for the first time , scoring the 1-0 winner in the final against defending champions Australia.

It was also nominated for the 2015 World Cup and used in the first two group games and the four games of the final round. In the final against the USA, their team conceded four goals in the first 16 minutes. Iwashimizu was then substituted in the 33rd minute and replaced by record national player Homare Sawa , but that didn't change much in the end result.

At the qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games in Osaka , however, she and her team failed to Australia and China , so that Japan could not qualify for the Olympic Games. She was used in three games and led the team in the 6-1 win against Vietnam as captain on the field.
