Minamiiwate ( Japanese 南 岩手 郡 , - gun , dt. "South Iwate") was a district in the Japanese prefecture of Iwate .

history

In 1887, Iwate County was split into the north ( Kitaiwate County ) and south (Minamiiwate County).

On April 1, 1889, Morioka City became independent from Minamiiwate County. The remaining part is divided into the following 14 villages / rural communities ( Mura ):

In 1896 Minamiiwate and Kitaiwate are again merged to form Iwate County.
