Minamiiwate ( Japanese 南 岩手 郡 , - gun , dt. "South Iwate") was a district in the Japanese prefecture of Iwate .

history

In 1887, Iwate County was split into the north ( Kitaiwate County ) and south (Minamiiwate County).

On April 1, 1889, Morioka City became independent from Minamiiwate County. The remaining part is divided into the following 14 villages / rural communities ( Mura ):

• Takizawa ( 滝 沢 村 , -mura ).
• Today to Morioka: Yonai ( 米 内 村 , -mura ), Asagishi ( 浅 岸 村 , -mura ), Nakano ( 中 野村 , -mura ), Yanagawa ( 簗 川村 , -mura ), Ōta ( 太 田村 , -mura ), Motomiya ( 本 宮 村 , -mura ), Kuriyagawa ( 厨 川村 , -mura ), Tamayama ( 玉山 村 , -mura ), Yabukawa ( 藪 川村 , -mura ).
• Today on Shizukuishi : Shizukuishi ( 雫 石村 , -mura ), Nishiyama ( 西山 村 , -mura ), Omyōjin ( 御 明 神 村 , -mura ), Gosho ( 御所 村 , -mura ).

In 1896 Minamiiwate and Kitaiwate are again merged to form Iwate County.
