Shūnan ( Japanese 周 南市 , -shi ) is a city in Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan .

Shūnan is located west of Iwakuni and east of Yamaguchi on the Seto Inland Sea .
history
The city of Shūnan was formed on April 21, 2003 from the former cities of Tokuyama ( 徳 山 市 , -shi ) and Shinnan'yō ( 新 南陽 市 , -shi ), and the communities of Kumage ( 熊 毛 町 , -chō ) of the districts of Kumage and Kano ( 鹿野 町 , -chō ) of Tsuno County.
