Larry Probst

Lawrence F. "Larry" Probst III (* 1951 ) is an American entrepreneur and currently Chairman of the American computer game publisher Electronic Arts (EA), for which he was CEO and President from 1991 to 2007 . Probst is also Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of the United States and has been a member of the IOC since 2013 .

Life

Probst is the son of Lawrence F. Probst, Jr. and Ruth Probst (née Gallagher). He is married to Nancy Probst and has two sons, Scott and Chip.

He graduated in business administration at the University of Delaware with a Bachelor from. Probst worked for Johnson & Johnson and later for Clorox before he was lured into the computer game industry by Activision in 1982 . In 1984 he became Vice President for Sales at Electronic Arts. When EA founder Trip Hawkins gave up the management of the group in 1991, Probst became the new CEO and President of the company and a member of the Board of Directors . He has also been Chairman of the Board since 1994 . In 2007, Probst handed over his position as CEO and President to John Riccitiello, who had been Chief Operating Officer and President of EA under Probst from 1997 to 2004 . Probst remained chairman. When Riccitiello stepped down from his positions as CEO and President on March 30, 2013, Probst took over the management of EA one more time as Executive Chairman.

According to EA's 2005 annual report, Probst was the individual with the most shares at that time, with a total of 739,761 shares and the preferential right to a further 3.1 million shares, which together gave a total of 1.2 percent of the company. Probst serves on the boards of directors of two cancer research institutions, the V Foundation and ABC2. On October 2, 2008, Probst was appointed as the successor to Peter Ueberroth as the new Chairman of the United States Olympic Committee, the National Olympic Committee of the United States. On March 10, 2011, he was also appointed to the International Relations Commission of the International Olympic Committee.
