The CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf is located in the north of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital Düsseldorf near the Rhine and is one of the largest congress centers in Germany . The congress center - consisting of the CCD Süd and the CCD Stadthalle - is part of the Düsseldorf exhibition center and is directly connected to the surrounding exhibition halls. The CCD has been operated since 1995 by Düsseldorf Congress GmbH (formerly Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH), a subsidiary of the city and Messe Düsseldorf .

The CCD offers over 6000 m² of exhibition space and 37 variable room units for up to 7200 visitors. With the structurally linked exhibition halls 1 and 3, the capacity can be expanded to up to 16,000 people. In addition, a total of 262,700 m² of exhibition space is available in the 19 halls on the exhibition grounds. In addition to the connected building complexes CCD Süd and CCD Stadthalle, the CCD Ost is also located on the grounds of Messe Düsseldorf. The conference center has three rooms with a total area of 754 m² for up to 600 people.

building

The foundation stone for today's CCD was laid in 1971 with the opening of the exhibition center in Stockum . Before that, Messe Düsseldorf (then under the name NOWEA Nordwestdeutsche Ausstellunggesellschaft mbH) was located on the Ehrenhof site . However, since there were no expansion options here, a new exhibition center with 112,500 m² gross hall area was opened in the Stockum district of Düsseldorf in August 1971. At the same time a conference center - today's CCD Süd and CCD Ost - was built and incorporated into Messe Düsseldorf under the name MKC (Messe-Kongress-Center). At that time, the congress area was mainly geared towards conferences accompanying the trade fair.

expansion

Due to the steady success of the Düsseldorf exhibition and congress business, the exhibition grounds were enlarged again and again in the coming decades. From 1993 to the beginning of 1995, the congress center was also expanded. The extension of the CCD Stadthalle to the existing CCD Süd building complex not only brought about the renaming of the MKC to CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf, but also the establishment of its own management company, today's Düsseldorf Congress GmbH (then DüsseldorfCongress Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH). With these measures, the new potential of the Düsseldorf Congress Center should be fully exploited. The renovation had doubled the conference capacity and made the conference center the third largest congress complex in Germany - this made it possible to acquire important national and international congresses as well as large corporate events.

modernization

Over the years, the CCD has established itself as a fixture in the conference and congress industry. In order to guarantee a continuous further development of the available space, the CCD has been subject to extensive modernization measures since 2004. The renovation of the 1080 m² auditorium was completed in January 2005. In 2009, among other things, the foyer areas of the CCD Süd and the CCD Stadthalle were visually refreshed. A business lounge and a garden lounge are also among the innovations that have already been implemented. In 2011, the renovation of rooms 5 to 8 on the first floor of the CCD and the associated enlargement of the exhibition area was completed.

Infrastructural connection

The CCD is located at the south entrance of the Düsseldorf exhibition center in close proximity to the Rhine, Nordpark and the Japanese Garden. The Dusseldorf airport is 3 km, the old town of Düsseldorf 5 km away. 19,000 trade fair parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity. 1200 of these are directly in front of the CCD. A few minutes by car there are motorway connections to the A44 and A52 . The CCD can be reached by public transport via tram lines U78 / U79 and bus line 722.

Events

Every year around 2000 events with a total of 400,000 visitors take place in the CCD, including numerous national and international congresses, company events as well as large exhibitions and receptions.
