Bennigsen is a village in the town of Springe in Lower Saxony .
geography
Bennigsen is in the northeast of the urban area of Springe , on the southern slope of the Süllberg , an eastern branch of the Deister . From there you have a view of the eastern Calenberg plain. The place is located in the historical landscape of the Calenberger Land and within the Calenberger Loessbörde with fertile arable soils.
history
Bennigsen was first mentioned around 980 as "Bennucheshusen" in a deed of gift. The place with about ten farms presumably existed before. In the same document, the neighboring town of Lüdersen is named as "Luidgereshem".
To the south of today's town lies the Medefeld desert , which is older than Bennigsen. Bennigsen itself was probably founded in the early Middle Ages .
On March 1, 1974 Bennigsen was incorporated into the town of Springe. The former Rudolf-von-Bennigsen-Eiche was named after the politician Rudolf von Bennigsen , who died in Bennigsen in 1902 .

coat of arms
In the horizontally divided shield, the coat of arms shows a brown, right-turned, slightly rising crossbow-wrench on a white background and below a white sugar beet with three green leaves on a blue background. The crossbow tensioner comes from the coat of arms of the von Bennigsen family . The sugar beet contributed to the economic development of the place in the 19th century.
The coat of arms is painted on the west gable of the station building above Rudolf-von-Bennigsen- Platz.
