Yoron Israel

Yoron Dael Israel (born November 24, 1963 in Chicago ) is an American drummer and composer of modern jazz .

Live and act

Israel first studied at Roosevelt University (Bachelor 1986) before completing his master’s degree at Rutgers University in 1997 . He toured internationally with Jay Hoggard (since 1987), David Fathead Newman and Bill Mays and has been making records under his own name since 1998. His album Basic Traneing reached number 3 on the American jazz charts in 2004. He currently leads the quartet High Standards , which includes keyboardist Laszlo Gardony, saxophonist Lance Bryant and bassist Henry Lugo, with whom he released the Stevie Wonder tribute CD Visions . He also played with Kenny Burrell , Horace Silver , Sonny Rollins , Frank Wess , the Mingus Big Band , the Chicago Civic Orchestra and was also active as a theater musician. He has also recorded with Abbey Lincoln , Ahmad Jamal ( Live in Paris 1996 ), Benny Golson , Curtis Fuller , Clark Terry , Joe Henderson , Art Farmer , Freddie Hubbard , Wolfgang Lackerschmid , Attila Zoller , Larry Coryell and Grace Kelly . After Tom Lord , he participated in 91 recording sessions.

Israel initially taught at Rutgers University-Newark, William Paterson University and The New School and is an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music .
