Niels Frevert (born November 8, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a German singer and songwriter / songwriter .

Life

Niels Frevert was the singer and songwriter of the Hamburg band Nationalgalerie , which released four German-language albums from 1991 to 1995 on Dragnet, a sub-label of Sony Music . In 1993/94 they caused a sensation with the hit Evelin from the album Indiana and its associated music video on MTV , as at that time German-language music was rarely heard on the British station. In 1996 the National Gallery dissolved.

Niels Frevert's first solo album of the same name was released by the major label Motor Music and received consistently good reviews, but only achieved moderate sales success.

Niels Frevert's second solo album from 2003, Seltsam öffne mich , was released on the independent label Mural Records , operated by Dirk Darmstaedter , the former singer of the Hamburg band Jeremy Days , among others . The record was co-produced by Christian Neander , who was also involved in some of the titles as a composer and musician.

Frevert has been performing solo since around 2003.

A re-release of the first album for the 10th anniversary with some bonus tracks was released on September 7, 2007, in addition, the compilation Wallpaper 100 was released on the same day on Wallpaper Records , in which Frevert covers the song Pausen by the Paul Dimmer Band and the Frevert -Composition fortune cookie is covered by the band Downpilot . The next album You can let me out on the corner was released on February 29th, 2008 on Wallpaper Records. This album was voted number 44 of the “50 Most Important Albums” of 2008 by Spex magazine . On the Kettcar album Sylt from 2008, Niels Frevert sings the song Am Tisch together with Marcus Wiebusch .

On November 4, 2011, Niels Frevert's album Zettel was released on the floor at Wallpaper Records. In December 2011 he was on tour in Germany and Austria.

His fifth album Paradise of Counterfeit Things has been on the market since August 22, 2014 after switching to the Grönland Records label . It received mostly positive reviews and made it to number 17 in the Rolling Stone Critics' Annual Charts in 2014. Jan Wiele described the album Putzlicht (2019) in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as a “masterpiece”. It describes “getting up, moving on in a deep crisis”.
