Minamoto no Sanetomo
Minamoto no Sanetomo ( Japanese 源 実 朝 ; * September 17, 1192 ; † February 13, 1219 ) was the third Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate , Udaijin (from 1218 to 1219) and a Waka poet.
Life
The son of the founder of the Kamukara Shogunate, Minamoto no Yoritomo , and Hōjō Masakos became Shogun at the age of eleven as the successor to his murdered brother Minamoto no Yoriie . However, the actual power in the empire at this time was in the hands of his grandfather Hōjō Tokimasa .
Minamoto was murdered by his nephew Kugyō ( Minamoto no Yoshinari ), a son of his brother Minamoto no Yoriie.
poetry
Minamoto no Sanetomo was interested in poetry and became a student of the poet Fujiwara no Teika . His poems (around 700) were compiled by an unknown compiler in the Kinkai Wakashū ( 金槐 和 歌集 ) collection. One was also included in the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu collection .
