Koreyasu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prince Koreyasu ( Japanese 惟 康 親王 , Koreyasu-shinnō ; * May 26, 1264 - † November 25, 1326 ) ruled from 1266 to 1289 as the 7th Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate in Japan . He was a nominal regent; the real power lay with the Hojo regents.

Prince Koreyasu was the son of the 6th Shogun, Prince Munetaka . He became a shogun at the age of two after his father's dismissal. Nothing significant is reported about him during his tenure. At the age of 25 he was deposed because he was "too old" to act as a puppet.

Prince Hisaaki followed him as the 8th Shogun.
