Bulent Arslan

Bülent Arslan (born February 17, 1975 in Nevşehir , Turkey ) is a Turkish- German politician . Until 2014 he was an assessor in the state board of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia , was chairman of the German-Turkish forum of the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was installed from 1997 to 2014, and founded the organizational consultancy IMAP in 2002, in which he has been managing director since 2008.

Life

Arslan was born in Turkey and came to Germany with his parents in 1976. In 1994 he graduated from high school in Viersen. At the age of 21 he joined the CDU. At the age of 22 he applied for German citizenship , which he received in 1997. From 1994 to 2000 he studied economics and political science at the University of Duisburg as a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . He has a degree in economics, is an independent management consultant and lives in Viersen . In 2002 Arslan founded the “imap Institute for Intercultural Management and Policy Consulting”, which advises companies and municipalities in the field of integration solutions, foreign trade in the Near and Middle East and intercultural marketing. The consulting firm IMAP is now primarily concentrating on developing the ability of people and organizations to change.

Arslan is married and has two children.

Political party

In 1995, Arslan was elected chairman of the Viersen city council for foreigners and later took over the office of foreigners commissioner for the local CDU. From 2000 to 2003 he was a member of the CDU's immigration commission. He ran for the German Bundestag on the list of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia in 2002 and 2005 , but did not move into the Bundestag in either case.

Arslan is a Muslim and was chairman of the German-Turkish Forum, which aimed particularly at actively shaping integration policy. He was involved in the establishment of the federal association of the German-Turkish Forum, was a member of the commission for the creation of the CDU's third basic program, which was adopted in 2007, and was involved in the integration summit initiated by Chancellor Merkel .

He also took part in the German Islam Conference from 2006 to 2009 and has been a member of the Young European Leadership Delegation of the US States Department since 2008 .

Companies

Through his work as a change consultant, he follows on from his political endeavors to improve the way society and organizations deal with culture. Inspired by the integration process of migrants , Arslan sees culture as a source for the ability of people and organizations to change. In his company he employs around 40 people and primarily advises public administrations. In particular, it is about accompanying change processes and developing leadership and team skills. Methodically , he works primarily with approaches from systemic consulting .
