history

On February 17, 2004, Mozilla contributors and the Mozilla Foundation announced that the nonprofit Mozilla Europe was founded by Peter Van der Beken and Tristan Nitot. The aim of the organization was originally to recruit users and developers in Europe, especially for the Mozilla 1.6 web browser, which was then mainly used in North America . Mozilla Europe should also serve as a local contact for companies and administrations in order to implement company-wide deployment.

On May 9, 2005, Mozilla Europe announced that it would hire the two founders Van der Beken and Nitot as employees. The main task of the two was to expand and refine the developer networks in Europe, i.e. to improve communication between developers. Mozilla Europe was dissolved in 2012.
