Kajii Motojirō
Kajii Motojirō ( Japanese 梶 井 基 次郎 ; * February 17, 1901 in Osaka Prefecture ; † March 24, 1932 ) was a Japanese writer.
Kajii studied at the University of Kyoto and the University of Tokyo . As early as 1920 he was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. In 1924 he founded the literary magazine Aozora with friends , where his short story Remon ( 檸檬 ) appeared in 1925 . A collection of short stories appeared under the same title in 1931. In 1932 Kajii succumbed to his illness.
Kajii was hardly known during his lifetime, although the famous Kawabata Yasunari expressed his appreciation for him several times. Today he is considered one of the masters of Japanese short stories.
