Gustave Oliver Lannes de Montebello
Gustave-Olivier Lannes, comte de Montebello (born December 4, 1804 in Paris , † August 29, 1875 in Blosseville ) was a French general.
Gustave, a younger son of Marshal Jean Lannes from his marriage to Louise-Antoinette de Guéheneuc, served as a cavalry officer in Algeria from 1830 to 1840 , took part in the Polish war of insurrection in 1831 , and became French brigadier general and adjutant to Napoleon III after the coup d'état in 1851 .
In 1855 he became divisional general and in 1862, after he had already carried out an extraordinary delegation to the Pope in 1861 , commander in chief of the French troops in Rome . In 1867 he was made a senator, but retired in 1869 and died on August 29, 1875 at Blosseville Castle near Le Havre .
