Albert Androt

Albert Auguste Androt (* 1781 in Paris , † August 19, 1804 in Rome ) was a French composer .

Androt studied from 1796 at the Paris Conservatory founded the previous year by Bernard Sarrette . He was one of the first students at this institution, which began teaching in 1796. He studied here with François-Joseph Gossec and in 1803 was the first recipient of the Prix ​​de Rome newly announced by the Académie des Beaux-Arts , which he received for the cantata Alcyone (based on a text by Antoine-Vincent Anault ).

During his stay in Rome he studied with Pietro Alessandro Guglielmi . An opera by him and a religious work during Holy Week 1804 were performed here. During a memorial service after his early death in October 1804, a De Profundis was performed in the church of San Lorenzo fuori le mura , which he had completed shortly before his death.

In addition to the works mentioned, Androt left another unfinished opera and two symphonies.
