John F. Follett

John Fassett Follett (born February 18, 1831 in Enosburgh , Vermont , † April 15, 1902 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1883 to 1885 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

John Fassett Follett was born in Franklin County , Vermont. In 1837 he moved to Ohio with his parents. They settled there in Licking County . He attended public schools and studied law at Marietta College . In 1855 he finished his studies. Then he was a teacher at a school for two years. In 1858 he was finally admitted to the bar; he began to practice that same year. From 1866 to 1868 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives , of which he was chairman in 1868. He moved to Cincinnati to return to practice as a lawyer.

As the successor to Benjamin Butterworth , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the 1882 congressional elections as a representative of the 1st District of Ohio. In 1885 he left the Congress. He went back to Cincinnati to practice law again.

In 1902 Follett died in Cincinnati and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery there.
