Paul Eugene Gillmor (* 1. February 1939 in Tiffin , Ohio , † 5. September 2007 in Washington DC ) was an American politician of the Republican Party , from 1989 until his death as a deputy for the fifth district of Ohio in the House of Representatives the United States was operating. It is the second largest district in Ohio.

Gillmor grew up in Old Fort , Ohio, where his father owned a transportation company. He went to Old Fort High School and finished it in 1957. In 1961 he received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University ( Delaware , Ohio) and in 1964 his diploma from the University of Michigan (in Ann Arbor ). In 1965/66 he was in the US Air Force as a judge advocate with the rank of captain . He then worked as a lawyer.

In 2006, his net worth from Old Fort Bank , a local bank owned by Gillmor and his relatives, was put at between $ 6.2 million and $ 27.8 million. He was 43rd in the ranking of the richest congressman in the United States.

Gillmor held numerous political offices, including a. he was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1967 to 1988. He was there Chairman of the Republicans from 1978 to 1980 and from 1983 to 1984. Paul Gillmor's body was found by employees in his Washington apartment on September 5 after he failed to show up for work. The cause of death was unclear when the body was found, a heart attack was suspected.
