Brad Wenstrup

Brad R. Wenstrup (born June 17, 1958 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .

Career

Brad Wenstrup attended St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati until 1976 and then studied psychology at the University of Cincinnati until 1980 . In 1985 he graduated from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine , where he studied biology and podiatry . He then worked as a doctor in this specialty in Cincinnati for 25 years. In 1998 he joined the Army Reserve Medical Service . In 2005 he was called up for one year as a lieutenant colonel in active military service in Iraq . There he worked in a military hospital. For his services during this time he received the Bronze Star Medal . Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 2009 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor of Cincinnati.

In the 2012 congressional election , Wenstrup in Ohio's second constituency was elected with 59 percent of the vote in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Jean Schmidt on January 3, 2013 , who he was in his party's primary had beaten. After two re-elections so far in 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative period runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018. Wenstrup is or was a member of the Armed Forces Committee , the Veterans Committee and the Intelligence Committee as well as a total of six sub-committees. He was supported by members of the Tea Party movement in the 2012 election campaign .

Brad Wenstrup is married and lives in Cincinnati.
