Lucian W. Parrish

Lucian Walton Parrish (born January 10, 1878 in Grayson County , Texas , †  March 27, 1922 in Wichita Falls , Texas) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1922 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1887, Lucian Parrish moved to Clay County with his parents . He attended the public schools in Joy and Bowie . He then studied at North Texas State Normal College in Denton . He then worked as a teacher for two years. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Texas at Austin and his admission to the bar in 1909, he began to work in this profession in Henrietta .

Politically, Parrish was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1918 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 13th  constituency of Texas , where he succeeded John Marvin Jones on March 4, 1919 . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his death on March 27, 1922 . During this time the 18th and 19th amendments were ratified. Lucian Parrish died in Wichita Falls and was buried in Henrietta.
