Edgar Franklin "Ed" Foreman (born December 22, 1933 in Portales , New Mexico ) is a former American politician . Between 1969 and 1971 he represented the second constituency of the state of New Mexico in the US House of Representatives , after he had already belonged to it between 1963 and 1965 for the 16th constituency of Texas .

Early years

Ed Foreman attended public schools in his home country and, until 1953, Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. By 1955 he studied at New Mexico State University . In 1956 and 1957 he was a marine in the US Navy , whose reserve he later belonged to. He was also a member of the US Air Force Reserve . Foreman then became President of Valley Transit Mix , Atlas Land Co. and Foreman Oil Inc.

Political career

Ed Foreman became a member of the Republican Party , whose Republican National Conventions he attended as a delegate in 1964 and 1968. In the 1962 congressional elections, he ran successfully in the 16th constituency of the state of Texas for the US House of Representatives. There he replaced JT Rutherford on January 3, 1963 . After he was defeated by Richard Crawford White of the Democratic Party in 1964 , he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1965 .

In 1968 Foreman ran again for Congress, this time for the New Mexico Second Constituency. After his election victory, on January 3, 1969, he was given the seat in the US House of Representatives previously taken by Johnny Walker . After losing an election in 1970, he was only able to spend one term in Congress this time. His term of office ended on January 3, 1971.

Another résumé

After leaving Congress, Foreman worked for the Home Office in Washington in 1971 . From 1972 to 1976 he was head of department in the Ministry of Transport . In the years that followed, Ed Foreman was an adviser to several presidents. Occasionally he appears as a guest speaker, especially at motivational events; he is also on the supervisory board and shareholder of several companies.
