Ovie Clark "OC" Fisher (born November 22, 1903 in Junction , Texas , † December 9, 1994 in San Angelo , Texas) was an American politician . He represented the state of Texas as a member of the US House of Representatives .

Career

OC Fisher was born on November 22, 1903 near Junction, Kimble County , where he attended public school. He then went to the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Texas at Austin . He then made his Bachelor of Laws and his PhD in 1929 at the Law School of Baylor University in Waco . He was admitted to the bar in the same year and opened a practice in San Angelo. Fisher was involved in livestock farming and was a writer. He also served as the Tom Green County attorney from 1931 to 1935 . He was then a member of the House of Representatives from Texas from 1935 to 1937 . He then served as district attorney for the 51st judicial district from 1937 to 1943.

politics

Fisher was elected a Democrat in the 78th and 15 subsequent conventions. His term of office ran from January 3, 1943 until his resignation on December 31, 1974. He did not stand for election for the 84th Congress. Fisher resumed his previous practice as a lawyer in San Angelo, which he practiced until his death on December 9, 1994.

During his tenure he was chairman of the Committee on Elections No. 3 (79th Congress). He also participated in the constitution of the Southern Manifesto , which spoke out against racial integration in public institutions.
