Ronald D'Emory Coleman (born November 29, 1941 in El Paso , Texas ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . Between 1983 and 1997 he represented the 16th Congressional Constituency of the state of Texas in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

Ronald Coleman attended the public schools of his home country and then studied until 1963 at the University of Texas in El Paso. After that he worked temporarily as a teacher. From 1967 to 1969 he was a captain in the United States Army . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1969, he began to work in this profession in El Paso. From 1969 to 1973 he was the assistant district attorney in El Paso County . At the same time he embarked on a political career. From 1973 to 1982 he was a member of the Texas House of Representatives . In 1974 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Texas constitution.

In the 1982 election , Coleman was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 16th  Congressional District of Texas , where he succeeded Richard Crawford White on January 3, 1983 . He was re-elected six times. In 1992 he was embroiled in the Congressional banking scandal.

1996 renounced Coleman on another candidacy and retired from the on January 3rd, 1997 Congress of. He has not appeared politically since then.
