Bruce Alger

Bruce Reynolds Alger (* 12. June 1918 in Dallas , Texas ; † 13. April 2015 in Palm Bay , Florida ) was an American politician of the Republican Party , of the State of Texas in the US House of Representatives represented.

Bruce Alger was born in Dallas in 1918. In 1924, he and his family moved to Webster Groves , Missouri . He graduated from Princeton University in 1940. In September 1941, Alger joined the United States Army Air Corps and served as a B-29 pilot in the Pacific region during World War II . He retired from active service in November 1945 and returned to Dallas, running his own real estate company and serving as the first president of the White Rock Chamber of Commerce.

In the 1950s, Alger was elected to Republican in the 84th and four subsequent Congresses. He was thus from January 3, 1955 to January 3, 1965 member of the House of Representatives for the fifth congressional electoral district of Texas. In the elections of 1964 , he had no success: He was defeated by Democrat Earle Cabell .

Alger lived in Carrollton , Texas until the end .
