Marc Veasey (born January 3, 1971 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .

Career

Marc Veasey attended Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and then studied at Texas Wesleyan University there until 1995 . He then worked as a teacher and then as a sports journalist. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He was on the staff of Congressman Martin Frost for five years . He was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 2004 to 2012 .

In the 2012 congressional election , Veasey was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the newly established 33rd  constituency of Texas , where he took up his new mandate on January 3, 2013. In the election he received 73 percent of the vote. His opponent, Chuck Bradley of the Republican Party , had 25 percent. Since he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. Its latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2021. Veasey is or was a member of the Armed Forces Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee . He is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the LGBT Equality Caucus .
