Michael Jonathan Cloud (* 13. May 1975 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . Since June 30, 2018, he has represented the 27th Congressional District of the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Family, education and work

Michael Cloud was born in the capital of the state of Louisiana, Baton Rouge. In 1993 he made his high school Accounts at the Miamisburg Gigh School in Miamisburg in the state of Ohio . He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 from Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma . Prior to joining Congress, Cloud was a communications director and businessman.

Michael Cloud is married to Rosel. They both have three children. You live in Victoria .

Political career

From May 2010 to May 2017, Cloud served as leader of the Republican Party in Victoria County .

Following the resignation of Blake Farenthold , Governor Greg Abbott scheduled a by-election for the vacated seat on June 30, 2018. Cloud was one of the candidates and was able to prevail in the election with 54.74% of the votes cast against his democratic challenger Eric Holguin. Cloud was sworn in on July 10, 2018. He also successfully ran for a full term in the regular midterm elections held in November 2018 .
