John W. Cranford

John Walter Cranford (* 1862 at Grove Hill , Clarke County , Alabama , †  March 3, 1899 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1899 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Cranford attended public schools in his home country. At times he was also given private lessons. Around 1880 he moved to Texas, where he settled in Sulfur Springs . After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1888 and 1896 he sat in the Texas Senate , of which he was temporarily president.

In the congressional elections of 1896 , Cranford was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the fourth constituency of Texas, where he succeeded the no longer running David B. Culberson on March 4, 1897 . He was able to exercise this mandate until his death on March 3, 1899. The legislative period also ended on this day.
