Edwin Le Roy Antony

Edwin Le Roy Antony (born January 5, 1852 in Waynesboro , Burke County , Georgia , †  January 16, 1913 in Dallas , Texas ) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1859, Edwin Antony came to Brazoria County , Texas with his parents . In 1867 the family moved to Milam County . He attended the public schools in his respective homeland. He then studied until 1873 at the University of Georgia in Athens . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1874, he began to work in this profession in Cameron . In 1876 he became a Milam County prosecutor. After the illness of a district judge, Antony held this office as a substitute in 1886. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1890 and 1892 he was a member of the Cameron Parish Council.

After the resignation of MP Roger Q. Mills , Antony was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on June 14, 1892. Since he was no longer nominated by his party for the regular congressional elections of 1892 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1893 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Edwin Antony practiced as a lawyer again. He died on January 16, 1913 in Dallas, where he was also buried.
