Moses L. Broocks

Moses Lycurgus Broocks (born November 1, 1864 in San Augustine , San Augustine County , Texas , †  May 27, 1908 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Moses Broocks attended public schools in his homeland. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Texas at Austin and his license to practice law in 1891, he began to work in this profession in San Augustine. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1892 he became a member of the Texas House of Representatives . Then he moved to Beaumont . In 1896 he became a prosecutor in the first judicial district of his state.

In the 1904 congressional election , Broocks was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Texas , where he succeeded Samuel B. Cooper on March 4, 1905 . In 1906 he did not apply for another term for health reasons. After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Moses Broocks practiced as a lawyer again in San Augustine, where he died on May 27, 1908.
