Van Taylor (born August 1, 1972 in Dallas ) is an American Republican politician . He is a member of the House of Representatives for the Third District of Texas . Previously, he was an MP in the House and Senate of Texas. Tylor took part in the Iraq war as a soldier .

Life

Taylor comes from a long-time Texas family. He grew up in Midland, Texas and attended school there before going to St. Paul's School in Concord , New Hampshire, a prep school and boarding school. Taylor studied at Harvard University , where he earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1995. He later earned an MBA from the university's business school .

Taylor was a member of the United States Marine Corps last with the rank of captain and took part in 2003 with a reconnaissance unit in the Iraq war.

Taylor has been married since 2004 and lives in Plano, Texas . The couple has three daughters. Taylor was most recently in the real estate industry.

politics

In April 2010, Taylor was named a member of the Texan House of Representatives for the vacant seat of the 66th District. In 2012 he was re-elected without an opponent.

In the November 2014 Senate election, Taylor was elected to the 8th District in the Texas Senate. His term of office ran from January 2015 to 2019.

In the 2018 House of Representatives elections , Taylor was the clear winner in the Republican primary with 84.7 against two other candidates. In the general election he received 54.2% of the vote against the Democratic candidate who received 44.2%. He took up his mandate on January 3, 2019.
