Ben H. Guill

Ben Hugh Guill (born September 8, 1909 in Smyrna , Tennessee , †  January 15, 1994 in Pampa , Texas ) was an American politician . In 1950 and 1951 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ben Guill attended West Texas State College in Canyon until 1933 . Then he worked as a teacher and private businessman. During World War II , he served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945 . Then he worked in the real estate industry. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . After the resignation of the member of Parliament Eugene Worley , Guill was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the by-election for the 18th seat of Texas , where he took up his new mandate on May 6, 1950. Since he was not confirmed in the regular congressional elections of 1950 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1951 .

In July 1952, Guill was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where General Dwight D. Eisenhower was nominated as a presidential candidate. Between 1953 and 1955 he worked for the Federal Post Office in Washington. He was then until 1959 a member of the Federal Maritime Board , which was under the Department of Commerce . Otherwise he worked as a consultant. Ben Guill died on January 15, 1994 in the Pampas, where he was also buried.
