Bob Price

Robert Dale "Bob" Price (born September 7, 1927 in Reading , Lyon County , Kansas , †  August 24, 2004 in Pampa , Texas ) was an American politician . Between 1967 and 1975 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Bob Price attended the public schools in his home country and then studied at Oklahoma State University until 1951 . Between 1951 and 1955 he served in the United States Air Force . During the Korean War he flew 27 combat missions. He was awarded the Air Medal for his military achievements . After serving in the military, Price ran his now acquired ranch in Texas. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1964, 1966, and 1968 he was a delegate to regional Republican conventions in Texas. In August 1968, he also took part in the Republican National Convention in Miami Beach , where Richard Nixon was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In the 1966 congressional election , Price was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th  constituency of Texas , where he succeeded Walter E. Rogers on January 3, 1967 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1975 . Since 1973 he represented the 13th district of his state as the successor to Graham B. Purcell . During his time as a congressman, the Vietnam War , the height of the civil rights movement and the Watergate affair took place . This affair harmed the Republican Party and its elected officials. Many were not re-elected in 1974. That included Bob Price.

In 1976 he applied unsuccessfully to return to Congress. Between 1978 and 1980 he was a member of the Texas Senate . In 1988, 1990 and 1992, Price tried unsuccessfully to win his party's nomination for the congressional elections. He died in Pampas on August 24, 2004 and was buried in Midland . He had three children with his wife Martha.
