George H. Noonan

George Henry Noonan (born August 20, 1828 in Newark , New Jersey , † August 17, 1907 in San Antonio , Texas ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

George Noonan attended public schools in his home country. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to work in this profession. In 1852 he moved to Castroville , Texas, where he continued to practice as a lawyer. Between 1862 and 1894 he was a judge in the 18th Judicial District of Texas. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1894 Noonan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the twelfth constituency of Texas , where he succeeded Thomas M. Paschal on March 4, 1895 . Since he was defeated by the Democrat James Luther Slayden in 1896 , he was only able to complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1897 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, George Noonan worked as a lawyer in San Antonio. He died there on August 17, 1907.
