Randy Weber (* 2. July 1953 in Pearland , Texas ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . He has represented the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .

Career

Randy Weber attended Alvin Community College between 1971 and 1974 and then studied at the University of Houston-Clear Lake until 1977 . In 1981 he founded his own company, the Webers Air & Heat Airconditioning Company . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1990 and 1996 he was a member of the Pearland Parish Council; from 2008 to 2012 he was an MP in the Texas House of Representatives . In the meantime, he also held several local offices in Brazoria County .

In the 2012 congressional election , Weber was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington DC in the 14th  constituency of Texas , where he succeeded the no longer running Ron Paul on January 3, 2013 . He prevailed with 53 percent of the vote against former Congressman Nick Lampson of the Democratic Party , who came up with 45 percent. Since he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. Its latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2021.

Weber attracted attention several times through messages on Twitter. In January 2014, he tweeted while President Obama was delivering the State of the Union address, referring to Obama as a "commandant-in-chief" [sic] and a "socialist dictator". After the White House apologized for not sending a senior representative to the memorial service in Paris (as a result of the attack on the editorial staff of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo ), Weber tweeted that “even Adolph [sic] Hitler thought it more important to Paris to come as Obama ”. Weber apologized for the latter tweet, but not for the one related to the State of the Union address .

Randy Weber has been married for over 30 years and has three children. He also has four grandchildren.
