Frank Tejeda
Frank Mariano Tejeda (* 2. October 1945 in San Antonio , Texas ; † 30 January 1997 ) was an American lawyer and politician of the Democratic Party , who from 1993 until his death in 1997 the state of Texas in the US House of Representatives took .
Life
After attending St. Leo's Catholic School and Harlandale High School , Tejeda did his military service in the US Marine Corps between 1963 and 1967 and then began studying at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, which he obtained in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts ( BA). A subsequent postgraduate studies of law at the Law School of the University of California, Berkeley , he finished 1974 with a Juris Doctor (JD) and worked for the subsequent lawyer admitted to the bar.
In 1977 he began his political career and was elected as a candidate for the Democratic Party to the House of Representatives from Texas , where he was a member for ten years until 1987. First he represented District 57-B until 1983 and then until 1987 District 118, both of which are in San Antonio. During this time he completed an additional degree in public administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University , which he completed in 1980 with a Master of Public Administration (MPA).
After leaving the Texas House of Representatives, he was a member of the Texas Senate between 1987 and 1993 , where he represented District 19 (San Antonio). During this time he again completed a postgraduate degree in law at the Law School of Yale University and completed this in 1989 with a Master of Laws (LL.M.). In 1992 Tejeda was elected to the US House of Representatives and represented in this from January 3, 1993 until his death on January 30, 1997 the newly created 28th Congressional constituency of Texas. After his death was Ciro Rodriguez in a by-election ( Special Election selected) as his successor.
For his services, Tejeda, who died of complications from a brain tumor and was buried with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, was posthumously awarded the Silver Star .
