Carrollton is a city in Dallas County , Denton County and Collin County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located on Interstate 35 in northeast Texas, about 25 km northwest of Dallas and has a total area of 94.9 km², of which 0.5 km² is water.
history
The first settlers came to the area from Carrollton , Illinois in 1840 . The then small settlement was probably named after this place of origin. On May 16, 1878, with the opening of the first post office, the settlement was officially named that way.

According to the 2000 census, 109,576 people lived here in 39,136 households and 28,921 families. The population density was 1160.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 71.88% White, 6.26% African American, 0.46% Native American, 10.90% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, and 7.71% other ethnic groups. About 2.72% were mixed race and 19.53% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 39,136 households, 41.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.1% of these were married couples living together. 9.9% were single mothers and 26.1% were non-families. 20.1% of all households were single households and 2.9% had people living in it who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.25.
28.3% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.0% 18 to 24, 37.1% 25 to 44, 21.5% 45 to 64, and 5.2% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 98.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 96.2 men.
The median income for a household in the 62,406 USD , and the median income for a family 68,672 USD. Males had a median income of $ 45,469 versus $ 32,997 for females. The per capita income was $ 26,746. 5.6% of the population and 4.1% of families are below the poverty line. 7.4% of these were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 6.3% were 65 or older.
