Augustana is an American rock band whose style is subordinated to rock / roots rock / piano rock.

Band history

Augustana's debut album came out in 2003, but initially there were only 1000 copies. After band members Dan Layus, Josiah Rosen and Jared Palomas formed Augustana in Greenville, Illinois, they moved to Southern California, where they also found their drummer, Justin South. Shortly thereafter, Augustana was discovered by producer Stephen Short, who later became her manager. The band became known with their second album, All the Stars and Boulevards , which was sold over 200,000 times in the USA.

The band excelled by touring as supporting act for Switchfoot , The Fray , Counting Crows , Dashboard Confessional , OAR , Snow Patrol , The Damnwells , Goo Goo Dolls , Acceptance and Cartel, as well as through their own tours.

All the stars and boulevards

All the Stars and Boulevards was released on September 6, 2005 and reached number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and number 96 on the Billboard Top 200 chart (USA). The first single, Boston , came out in 2005. This was a different version than the one on her debut album, Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays . The album All the Stars and Boulevards was reissued on September 12, 2006 and was announced on the band's MySpace homepage. This album was sold in Best Buy stores and on the Best Buy website and sold out the next day. The changes to this re-released album were: a re-mixed version of Wasteland , a new track called Marie , acoustic versions and music videos from Boston and Stars and Boulevards . Josiah Rosen left the band in April 2006 and independently released his first solo recording, A Memoir, under the name The Last Almanac . On April 29, 2008 a new album called Can't Love, Can't Hurt was released . The first single is called Sweet and Low .
