The Mariala National Park (English: Mariala National Park ) is a national park in the center of the Australian state of Queensland .

location

It is located 810 kilometers west of Brisbane , 128 kilometers northwest of Charleville and 45 kilometers east of Adavale near the source of the Paroo River .

National nature

Red sandstone plains characterize the park.

Flora and fauna

The plains are overgrown with the silver-leaved, yellow-blooming mulga . In between there is also a light eucalyptus forest .

A small group of yellow-footed rock kangaroos have been established in the park . You come across emus and Echidna . But the most diverse is the bird world. In addition to various honey-eaters , one can also observe Inca cockatoos and the rare crested kite ( Lophoictinia isura ).

Facilities and access

There are no roads or other facilities in the park.

The unpaved road from Charleville to Adavale leads 128 kilometers west-northwest of Charleville through the park, which can therefore only be reached with four-wheel drive vehicles and only in dry weather.
